Virtual TrainingIt is crucial for career service providers to assist individuals in returning to work or school while also understanding their cultural perspectives, beliefs, and influences. This understanding fosters stronger relationships and helps providers grasp the job seeker’s goals, interests, and preferences within their cultural context. Corey et al. (2018) argue that if counselors and service providers focus solely on the cultural impacts within a specific population, they may overlook important factors that are essential for understanding and assisting service participants. Therefore, shifting from merely being a culturally competent counselor to practicing cultural humility allows for a deeper exploration of the cultural factors that shape every aspect of an individual’s life, thereby maximizing their potential and supporting them in achieving their employment goals. This webinar will address topics such as culture, and the differences between cultural competence and humility.
